Brexit and Racking

The USA and UK both pioneered the introduction of boltless racking back in the 1950s and for a number of years led the way with very little of no competition.

Slowly the countries of Europe followed suit and by the mid 1980s new racking was being manufactured all over Europe and even behind the Iron curtain , and became a serious contender in both quality and price. Entering the Millenium saw the emergence of China in the market .

Initially the prices where up to 50% cheaper although consumer confidence initially was low , with quality issues which where later resolved. Then came Brexit .

More uncertainty with regards to tarifs on imported goods, and the prospect of a weaker pound sterling making imports a less attractive choice. That had to be good news for Uk based manufacturers . A level playing field for price quicker lead times and goverment investment in manufacturing. So all in all the market has gone full circle and given way for our UK racking manufacturers to flourish again .
